I guess only when you’re feeling adventurous…

Indian Styled Fragrant Rice

To cook with:
>315g long grain rice, washed
>1 tbsp margarine
>2 tbsp oil
>3 cloves garlic, crushed
>3 shallots, coarsely chopped
>1 lemon grass, bruised
>2 ½ cups water
>3/4 tsp turmeric powder
>1 ½ tsp ground cumin
>5 cloves
>3 cardamoms
>2 sprigs curry leaves
>1 tsp salt or to taste

To Cook:
Heat margarine and oil in a saucepan, add in shallots, garlic, cloves, cardamoms, lemon grass and curry leaves. Fry until fragrant. Add turmeric powder and ground cumin to the mixture.

Pour in water and bring to boil. Stir in rice and salt. Cook over high heat for 4–5 minutes then lower the heat and cook covered slightly until rice is done and fluffy. Fluff the rice after it is cooked.

Chicken Rice

I adapted this from Samm’s. From the looks of it, the recipe is easy to prepare and fast to cook too!

- Cut up 1 chicken drumstick in small chunks, marinate with oyster sauce, sesame oil, sugar, pinch of salt and pepper, and dark soy sauce.
- Sliced up 2 chinese sausages
- Mushrooms of your liking
- Cut up long beans into small bits
- Rice
- Water

Wash the rice and add water into the rice cooker, dump in everything else and start cooking.

And we are done!
